When the lights are brightest, that's when the best players step up. Caitlin Clark epitomizes "clutch," and she showed that again in Game Two.
The Indiana Fever have a tough first-round matchup in the 2026 WNBA Playoffs against the Las Vegas Aces, and although the Aces are the three seed, they are one of the best remaining teams in the playoffs. Las Vegas cooked the Fever in Game One, and questionable refereeing aside, the Fever had to respond to stave off elimination. Clark's record-breaking season was destined to continue, and the former Hawkeye superstar had a legacy game.
Clark had another historic game to add to her growing resume
The Aces came out swinging in Game One, and the Fever couldn't respond. Indiana was lethargic on both ends of the court and didn't look ready to play in Game One. A'ja Wilson went off for 38 points and 16 rebounds in the 102-85 win, but luckily for the Fever, they have Caitlin Clark.

Clark had a historic first half, becoming the first player in WNBA history to have 10-plus points and 10-plus assists in a half, tallying 14 points and 11 assists. She didn't stop there, putting up an even bigger stat line to push the Fever over the finish line. She finished with 27 points, 15 assists, and seven rebounds, knocking down five threes. Clark was locked in from the very beginning, and she needed to be to keep the Fever in the postseason.
The Minnesota Lynx were less fortunate, getting upset by the New York Liberty in the first round. The Lynx's early excit is a good example of what can happen in a three-game series if you aren't locked in. The Liberty became the first eight seed in WNBA history to knock off a one seed in the first round, and the Fever weren't ready to be bounced this early after a solid regular season. This game wasn't without controversy, as Clark and Wilson both had incidents. Wilson left the court to chastise a fan and got a technical foul for doing it. She wasn't kicked out of the game, but the fan was. The fan was ultimately allowed to return after the Fever organization ruled that they hadn't violated any policies.
Clark also get into it with the refs after the game after a late foul call fouled her out of the game, and she was clearly upset by the call. She did not receive any punishment, but it will definitely be something to watch in Game Three. Both superstars will have to keep their emotions in check to stay in the postseason, and the Fever will need another brilliant game from Clark. Wilson is a multi-time MVP and the Aces have been on a historic chmpionship run. If the Fever want to move on and upset the Aces, they must find a way to keep Wilson in check, and limit her offensive production. She is the engine that drives Las Vegas' offense, and if she's allowed to go off like in game one, it will be a long night for Indiana.
