After three preseason contests, the Indiana Fever continues to prepare for their first game of the 2025 season on May 17. The Fever won all three preseason matchups, including a 108-44 drubbing of the Brazilian National Team at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City, Iowa.
Over the past few weeks, the Fever have cut multiple players, including two 2025 draft picks, Bree Hall (No. 20) and Yvonne Ejim (No. 33).
The Fever roster sits at 11 players, with the WNBA maximum being 12.
The Fever also made multiple free agent signings and trades to bolster their 2025 roster. That includes the No.4 WNBA all-time scorer DeWanna Bonner and super-sub Sophie Cunningham.
During superstar Caitlin Clark's second season in the WNBA, the expectations for the Fever are sky high. With sky-high expectations comes more national media attention.
A quartet of Indiana Fever Stars, including Clark, Kelsey Mitchell, Aliyah Boston, and Bonner, appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated recently. This comes after the Fever generated national headlines in Clark's rookie season.
With Clark onboard, the Fever knew they had to capitalize on the generational superstar.
After being bounced in the first round of the 2024 WNBA playoffs, the Fever rebuilt their coaching staff and front office, starting with hiring new Head Coach Stephanie White. The organization also announced it was building a new 78-million-dollar practice facility.
The 2024 Fever were young an unexperienced and needed veteran leadership to get over the hump. The organization realized this, and added Bonner and traded for Cunningham.
The organization did their part to build around stars Caitlin Clark, Aliyah Boston, and Kelsey Mitchell and they are poised for a deep run in 2025. All eyes will be on the Fever this season, but that is just the way they like it.
The mantra for the 2025 Fever squad is "We're not here to chase greatness. We're here to claim it."
