The Big Ten Conference is a football gauntlet again this season.

After a dynamic week five in the conference, the conference has six ranked teams in the AP Top 25 poll, including Ohio State (No. 1), Oregon (No. 2), Penn State (No. 7), Indiana (No. 8), Michigan (No. 20), and Illinois (No. 22).

Iowa and No. 11 had a classic Big Ten showdown over the weekend, featuring solid defense and hard running. Indiana came out on top 20-15 and moved up to No. 8 in the rankings.

One of the biggest stories in the conference over the past week is the firing of UCLA Coach DeShaun Foster.

UCLA started the season with losses to two Mountain West teams, and after dropping a 43-10 game against Utah, Foster was let go, having compiled a 5-10 overall record in a very short tenure with the Bruins.

Normally a coach's firing would not generate news for a Big Ten Conference foe, but after Foster was fired, Iowa swooped in and offered a three-star prospect and former UCLA commit.

2026 prospect Toray Davis reopened his recruitment after Foster was let go, and the Hawkeyes jumped in to offer the talented safety prospect.

Davis currently attends Fairview High School in Boulder, Colorado, and is a two-way star for the Knights football team.

Rivals has ranked Davis as a three-star prospect, Colorado's No. 7 overall prospect, and the No. 34 safety prospect in the 2026 recruiting class. Rivals' industry ranking also has Davis as the No. 497 prospect in the class.

247Sports has ranked Davis as a three-star prospect, Colorado's No. 4 prospect, and the No. 21 athlete prospect in the 2026 recruiting class. 247Sports composite ranking also ranks Davis as the No. 483 overall prospect in the class.

UCLA's loss is the Hawkeyes' gain as they attempt to sign Davis after he reopened his commitment.
