The Iowa Women's Basketball season ended on Monday, March 24, after falling 96-62 to the Oklahoma Sooners in the NCAA Tournament Round of 32. The Hawkeyes finished the season with a 23-11 (10-8) record in Jan Jensen's first season as head coach.

Iowa's 2025 season began with inconsistent play as Jan Jensen's squad attempted to mesh as a unit. Senior transfer Lucy Olsen and a large freshmen class struggled for consistency during the beginning of the season.

The Hawkeyes' up-and-down play continued into January as they lost five consecutive games. Through hard work and solid leadership, the Hawkeyes changed course and caught fire near the end of the season.

Iowa freshman guard Aaliyah Guyton was a key part of the Hawkeyes 'stretch run. Guyton became a staple in the rotation after recovering from an ACL injury she suffered during her senior year of high school.

News regarding her future with the Iowa program came down on Monday.

According to On3 Sports, Guyton will leave the program and enter the transfer portal.

Before joining the Hawkeyes, Guyton, the daughter of legendary Indiana Hoosier basketball player A.J. Guyton, was a highly-coveted recruit from Illinois. She was ranked as the top prospect from Illinois in the 2024 recruiting class.

Guyton was a four-star prospect from Peoria High School in Peoria, Illinois, where she averaged 21.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 3.8 during her junior season. Her senior season was cut short due to an ACL injury.

She was a part of a talented freshman class that included Taylor Stremlow, Ava Heiden, Callie Levin, and Teagan Mallegni.

Guyton averaged 16.4 minutes and 4.7 points per game in a significant reserve role for the Hawkeyes during the 2024 season. She struggled at the end of the season, shooting 25 percent from the floor and 22 percent from the three-point line during the final 13 games.

She also had 24 turnovers during that 13-game span.

After losing Guyton to the transfer portal, the Hawkeyes have three open scholarships to use for next season.

The Hawkeyes also have a talented incoming freshman class for the 2025 season. The class includes five-star recruit Addie Deal, four-star recruit Journey Houston, and four-star recruit Layla Hayes.

The Hawkeyes will miss Guyton's ball-handling and defensive prowess as she exits the program to enter the transfer portal.
