Iowa Football is still building its roster ahead of the 2025-2026 season. Iowa added five mid-year transfers and 10 freshmen to the squad for the upcoming season, including projected starting quarterback Mark Gronowski.
As spring football has progressed, Iowa has lost six players to the transfer portal, including senior and 2024 starting quarterback Brendan Sullivan.
Iowa always looks to build the program from within, and Head Coach Kirk Ferentz's refusal to embrace the transfer portal has contributed to that. It is well-documented that Ferentz would rather promote guys from within instead of building the roster through the portal.
Even with that precedent set, when a good offensive lineman wants a meeting with your program, you schedule it.

A top transfer portal target, Bryce George, has scheduled three visits after leaving the football powerhouse Division II program, Ferris State, and entering the portal. Iowa is one of the teams George has scheduled a meeting with.
Before entering the transfer portal, George was a three-time Division II National Champion with Ferris State and a two-time All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) selection.
George is ranked as a three-star transfer portal prospect and the No. 750 overall (No. 63 offensive lineman) by 247 Sports.
The Hawkeyes have three returning starters on the offensive line, including Beau Stevens (left guard), Logan Jones (center), and Gennings Dunker (right tackle). The three have combined for 84 career starts.
The departure of Connor Colby (right guard) and Mason Richman (left tackle) have left holes in the offensive line for next season. The spring football depth chart has junior Jack Dotzler starting at left tackle and sophomore Kade Pieper starting at right guard.
The six-foot-five, 315-pound George has the size and skill to play on both sides of the offensive line and could start or be a depth piece for the Hawkeyes. Spring football is still underway, and the depth chart for the interior of the offensive line has yet to be decided.
