Iowa Softball entered Saturday's game on a hot streak, winning their previous two Big Ten Conference series, including a three-game sweep of Penn State. The Hawkeyes welcomed the Rutgers Scarlet Knights to Bob Pearl Field for a three-game weekend series.
In game one on Friday night, the Hawkeyes squeaked out a 4-3 win in walk-off fashion. The game was tied heading into the bottom of the ninth inning, when Iowa loaded the bases. Sophomore Devin Simon came to the plate with one out and put the ball in play.
A Rutgers error allowed the winning run to cross home plate.
During senior night on Saturday, the Hawkeyes attempted to pick up their third consecutive series win and end the regular season on a high note.

After the first inning, Iowa jumped out to an early 1-0 lead. Rutgers had runners on base in the second and third innings, but could not drive them in.
The Hawkeyes extended their lead to 3-0 in the bottom of the third inning, and would hold that lead until the end.
Freshman pitcher Talia Tretton (10-9) got the start for the Hawkeye and pitched a complete game shutout. It was her tenth win of the season, and her eighth complete game.
The Hawkeyes finished the game with three runs on three hits, shutting out Rutgers, which scored no runs on four hits. The Hawkeyes go for the series sweep on Sunday, May 4, at noon on Star Wars Day at Bob Pearl Field.
The game on May 4 is the final game of the regular season before the Big Ten Tournament begins on May 7.
