Not only was Iowa's shutout win against Northern Illinois big on the field, but it was also big off the field.
The program hosted multiple potential recruits, from football to women's basketball, in the first big recruiting weekend of the fall. The football program hosted 13 total prospects from the 2027 to the 2029 class, with five already committed. Of the 13 who visited, three are part of the 2029 class, and one received an offer before leaving campus.
2029 OL prospect Lincoln Walsworth picked up an offer from the Hawkeyes
All 13 prospects were treated to a dominating Hawkeye win over Northern Illinois, something that will definitely help the recruiting pitch. A big part of the team's win was the offensive line who created big holes for the rushing attack and gave all three Iowa quarterbacks plenty of time to throw. The offensive line helped pave the way for the offense to rack up 507 total yards of offense, including 289 on the ground, and a potential future addition to the group picked up an offer shortly after.

The Hawkeyes offered 2029 OL line prospect Lincoln Walsworth after he attended their blowout win over NIU. Walsworth is the son of former Hawkeye OL Joel Walsworth, who played for the Hawkeyes under Hayden Fry. Lincoln is the first in-state prospect in the 2029 class to pick up an offer from the program. Walsworth has the look of the next great offensive tackle to join the Hawkeyes, and it makes a lot of sense that he added Iowa to his growing list of offers.
247Sports currently ranks Walsworth as a four-star prospect, Iowa's No. overall prospect, the No. 5 OT prospect, and the No. 44 overall prospect in the 2029 recruiting class. Walsworth is a big (six-foot-six, 250 pounds), physical offensive tackle who pancakes defenders like it's his job. He has excellent footwork and speed for a big man, and was a key part of the offensive line for Cedar Falls High School last season. He is also a starter on the basketball team, showcasing his versatility as a multi-sport athlete.
Iowa has already offered eight players in the 2029 class, and Walsworth is currently the only in-state prospect, but that is likely to change. The program has the early inside track to sign the legacy prospect, and he would be a massive addition to the squad. George Barnett and Kirk Ferentz do not throw offers around lightly, and always find the best offensive linemen to add to the mix. While it is still far too early to make any determinations about the 2029 class, the program has a solid opportunity to get things started with a bang.
