The season for the Detroit Lions is going in the opposite direction of what every thought.

Last season, the Lions finished with a stellar 15-2 record, they were NFC North champions, and earned the No. 1 overall seed in the NFC.

Multiple injuries eventually caught up with them, and they were upset in the Divisional Round by the Washington Commanders.

After the season, the Lions lost two star coordinators, including offensive coordinator Ben Johnson and defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn.

Johnson took the head coaching position with the Chicago Bears, and Glenn took the head coaching job with the New York Jets.

While those were two big losses, the Lions were still expected to finish in the top of the conference and make a playoff run.

After losing four of their first five games, the Lions got back on track, but went on another streak where they lost four of five, including an inexcusable loss to the Vikings last Thursday.

After Thursday's loss, the Lions now sit at 8-8 overall, and are all but eliminated from the playoff contention.

Despite their struggles this season, a former Hawkeye linebacker's stock continues to rise as he leads the Detroit defense.

Lions linebacker Jack Campbell etched his name into record books after passing DeAndre Levy for the second-most tackles in a single season in franchise history.

Levy compiled 151 total tackles in 2014.

This season, Campbell is in the top three in total tackles in the NFL, compiling 165 total tackles (85 solo, 80 assisted).

He has also added five sacks, three passes defended, three forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries.

Campbell has become a leader for the Lions' defense this season and even though this season has not gone as planned for Detroit, Campbell is having his best season as a pro in his third professional season.
