An obvious contract extension for a former Hawkeye is still on hold.

The Iowa program under Kirk Ferentz has sent over 90 players to the NFL, and most have made a solid impact at some point in their careers.

This season, there are 28 active former Hawkeyes in the NFL, and five of them have been named to Pro Bowl rosters.

Cooper DeJean, George Kittle, Jack Campbell, Tristan Wirfs, and Tyler Linderbaum were all named to Pro Bowl rosters, and one of the five is still waiting on a contract extension.

Linderbaum's obvious contract extension has still not gotten done

All-Pro center Tyler Linderbaum is in the final year of his rookie contract, and he and the Baltimore Ravens still have not worked out an extension.

When it was announced in April that the Ravens organization was declining Linderbaum's fifth-year option, it raised some eyebrows, especially among Hawkeye fans.

Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta stated that they have every intention of signing Linderbaum to a long-term extension, but the two sides have not finalized an agreement.

When Linderbaum was asked about a possible extension, he tempered his response, saying he would let his agent handle that business.

According to Sports Illustrated, if the Ravens had picked up Linderbaum's fifth-year option, they would've had to open up the checkbook for a big day immediately, and delaying the process allowed them to take their time.

In some good news for Linderbaum's situation, fellow potential future free agents Mark Andrews and Travis Jones have signed extensions before hitting the open market next year.

With how the Ravens organization is handling the situation, Spotrac's Michael Ginnitti predicts that Linderbaum will land a four-year, $77 million contract extension, putting him in the elite category.

It remains to be seen what the Ravens will do, but losing the three-time Pro Bowl selection would be a big mistake.
