Iowa Football got a nice Easter surprise on Sunday after it received another commitment for the 2026 recruiting class. The Hawkeyes have heavily recruited on the offensive side of the football, with six of seven current prospects playing offense.
On Sunday, the Hawkeyes added another offensive prospect to the 2026 recruiting class to boost the total to seven.
After visiting schools this past month, and after visiting Iowa this past weekend, I'm excited to call this place home. I'm 100% Committed!! ⚫️🟡 @Star_ReadyAth @CoachBudmayr @CoachTimLester @CoachKrueger3 @miketgraphics #Hawkeyes pic.twitter.com/NMNfPz5IAL

2026 wide receiver prospect Diondre Smith announced his commitment to the Hawkeyes on Sunday afternoon. Smith is unranked by 247 Sports, but is ranked as a three-star prospect by Rivals.
Smith joins wide receiver commitment Brody Schaffer as the second wide receiver commit for Iowa in the 2026 recruiting class. 247 Sports ranked Schaffer as a three-star prospect and the No. 131 wide receiver prospect (No. 801 overall) in the 20206 recruiting class.
Smith is the eighth verbal commitment for the 2026 recruiting class and the seventh on the offensive side of the football. Smith had multiple offers, including several Big Ten Schools. Those schools include Indiana, Marylan, and Michigan State.
The six-foot, 175-pound wide receiver should fit nicely in the slot receiver position for the Hawkeyes. Smith excels as a route-runner and has excellent hands for his size.
Iowa offensive coordinator Tim Lester continues to add weapons to his offensive arsenal. Iowa has made it a priority to add talent from Florida, and Diondre Smith is another example of that.
The Hawkeyes aim to improve their offense in year two of Lester's system. The additions of quarterback Mark Gronowski and wide receiver Sam Phillips will help in year two, and Brody Schaffer and Diondre Smith will look to continue the improvement in year three in 2026.
