Iowa Football: Hawkeyes headed to Music City Bowl against Missouri

The Iowa football team will play in the Music City Bowl against Missouri on Dec. 30.

Iowa football will officially be playing in a bowl game for the eighth straight season. The No. 15 Hawkeyes (6-2) will face the Missouri Tigers (5-5) in the Music City Bowl in Nashville, TN, on Wednesday, Dec. 30. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 pm CT on ESPN.

Iowa and Missouri have faced 13 previous times. The Hawkeyes have a 6-7 record against the Tigers. The Hawks last faced Mizzou in 2010 in the Insight Bowl in a 27-24 victory.

After losing five straight bowl games from 2011-16, the Hawkeyes have won three bowl games in a row, including a 49-24 drubbing of USC last season. Coach Ferentz has an all-time bowl record of 9-8, while the Iowa program has a record of 17-15-1.

The Hawkeyes were scheduled to face Michigan this past weekend, but the game was called off due to covid concerns within the Wolverines program. Iowa ended their season with six consecutive wins after beginning the season with two losses.

Missouri has lost its previous two games after starting the season 5-3. The Tigers finished in third place in the SEC East and are 1-4 against top 25 teams this season.
