We finally know which teams Iowa basketball will be playing this season. Here’s the Hawkeyes’ full schedule for the 2020-21 season.
The upcoming college basketball season is set to begin on Nov. 25. Prior to Wednesday, we had no idea which teams the Iowa men’s basketball program had on their schedule, aside from Gonzaga, North Carolina and Northern Illinois.
Coincided by the Big Ten’s schedule release, the University of Iowa released the Hawkeyes’ full schedule Wednesday. Fran McCaffery’s squad has 25 games on the docket; five non-conference opponents and 20 Big Ten opponents. Iowa has two other potential opponents (Western Illinois and Iowa State), as well, though nothing is written in stone yet.
The Hawkeyes, currently ranked No. 5 in the AP preseason poll, are scheduled to play No. 1 Gonzaga on Dec. 19 in Sioux Falls, SD. Below is the full schedule.

Some quick takeaways: the Hawkeyes begin Big Ten play on Dec. 22 at home against Purdue. The team also travels to Minnesota on Christmas Day. Iowa plays Illinois once (currently ranked No. 8) and Wisconsin twice (currently ranked No. 7). Overall, the Hawks will play eight opponents currently ranked in the preseason Top 25.
