Iowa football added to an already stacked 2021 recruiting class with some flash. Arland Bruce, a three-star athlete prospect from Kansas City, committed to the Iowa Hawkeyes over in-state rival Iowa State, Tulsa, and close to home Kansas.
WHAT A WEEK. Coronavirus has not stopped Kirk and the boys from going OFF in the recruiting game the last couple weeks and this is no different here. With the offensive line set up with two four-star studs, we now pick up a solid piece skill player piece.
Arland Bruce attends Olathe North in the Kansas City area and is rated as a 3-Star WR/ATH. He played quarterback (had some damn good throws on his film as well) and runningback in highschool but listed at 5’10 185, it is likely he will continue his career as a wide receiver.
Bruce doesn’t blow you away speed but he is shifty in the open field, runs hard, and shows the ability to turn nothing into something. Sized similar to Nick Easley, he could fit into a similar role if he can improve his route running. The only thing that really concerns me is him not playing WR in high school, we have no idea what his ball skills look like and he will more than likely be a little raw coming onto campus.

But, holy can this guy find the endzone from
anywhere. So many of his highlights should be TFL or a short gain and he manages to bust one loose and find the endzone. He rushed for… wait, he rushed for 2400+ yards in thirteen games last year? WHAT? That is absolutely insane. He had 100 yards in every game he played in, averaged 6.7 yards per carry and tallied 43 (!!!!!!) rushing touchdowns. I can’t be sure but if you ask me, that’s pretty good.
Bruce will likely redshirt and then fight for a position as early as his redshirt freshman season. But, if he can turn six-yard drags into 50+ yard touchdowns, he’s going to see plenty of playing time as a Hawkeye.
The Iowa coaching staff has been busy these last few weeks and the results are pouring in, this is Iowa 13th commit for the class of 2021. #Swarm21 is the 6th ranked recruiting class in the nation and 2nd in the Big Ten behind only Ohio State.
