Shonn Greene

Shonn Greene is the only guy on here who didn’t have “sustained” success with the Iowa football program. Part of being a guy who would be a great product endorser is someone who people have known already like all four of the guys above.

The other, more difficult route, is to have one of the most incredible seasons in the history of the Iowa football program.

That’s the more difficult route that Shonn Greene took as he burst on to the scene for the Hawkeyes breaking the single-season rushing record with 1,850 yards and setting the touchdown record with 20.

He was a unanimous First Team All-American, the Doak Walker Award winner, and the Big Ten’s Offensive Player of the Year.

Against Penn State, fans wore newly-made green Iowa shirts specifically in support of Greene’s candidacy for Heisman.

Imagine if Greene could have capitalized on his likeness during a year like that? While he was able to earn some money the following year in the NFL, he could have gotten quite a head start during the 2008 season.
