Brandon Smith is Iowa’s #1 and there’s no doubt about it

The emergence of Brandon Smith this season has been a lot of fun to watch.

Standing at 6’2” and 218 pounds, Smith has always had the size to be a number one wide receiver, and now he’s got the skill set to go with it.

Through seven games, he already has topped his career-high in catches, yards, and touchdowns, and barring the injury that took him out yesterday being serious, he has a chance to put together one of the best seasons by an Iowa wide receiver this decade. What’s crazy about that is does Ihmir Smith-Marsette.

But back to Smith.

Yesterday against Purdue, he was unstoppable as he hauled 9 catches for 106 yards, and after a slow start to the season, he has had at least 6 catches in 3 of the last 4 games.

Just a junior, I am really excited to see the continued growth by this dynamic wide receiver as he spends another year and a half in the Iowa football program.
