Iowa football: Five observations from embarrassing loss to Michigan
By Andrew Wade
The Iowa football team walked into Ann Arbor today and got slapped around by Michigan 10-3. Here are my five observations from the loss.
Coming into the season, I expected this to be a loss. It is so difficult to go into Michigan Stadium and walk away victorious. The home-field advantage Michigan has is comparable (or even better) than that of the Iowa football team at Kinnick Stadium.
That being said, given how this season has gone thus far and the growth the offense has experienced under what appeared to be an improved version of Nate Stanley, I expected better today.
I thought the Iowa football team could win today. I think they are a more talented team, but obviously, that didn’t happen.
It was quite the opposite really. The Iowa football team was uncharacteristically bad at the things they pride themselves on: winning in the trenches, being smart with the football, and not making stupid mistakes.
To put it frankly, this might have been the worst offensive performance I have ever seen from the Iowa football team and that includes the disastrous Outback Bowl loss to Florida in 2017.
Although I hate to put you through the agony of reliving this game, I do want to get out my five quick reactions and observations to the Iowa football team’s performance.
