Dud: Fullbacks wanting to score

The fullback position is probably the least glorified position in all of football outside of the long snapper, and it’s becoming less glorified and more obsolete by the year. Within the confines of the Iowa football program, however, the fullback is a huge weapon and tool in the offensive attack. But when I say huge weapon, I mean as a bulldozing blocker leading the way for anyone of the Iowa football team’s top four running backs.

Rarely, do these guys actually get the chance to carry the ball into the endzone, but Saturday was different. Starting fullback Brady Ross finally got his chance to score early in the second quarter on a first and goal attempt.

His backups, however, couldn’t make it happen.

Both Turner Pallisard and Monte Pottebaum had the rare opportunity score six for the Iowa football team and both got shut down late in the fourth quarter from the 1-yard line.

Again, not a lot to dislike about the Iowa football team’s performance yesterday so we’re taking the funny approach and calling the fullbacks duds here.
