Dud: Michael Sleep-Dalton

Normally, when a punter only has one punt, regardless of the outcome (unless it’s just an absolute disaster), we’re not going to be listing that guy as a dud, but Michael Sleep-Dalton’s listing here speaks more to how well the Iowa football team played because it was honestly tough to find many duds from yesterday’s performance.

I also could have included Keith Duncan here, but he also hit a career-long field goal, and I already made a comment about the special teams’ struggles in my observations article so I felt like adding both specialists would have been unnecessary.

Sleep-Dalton gave me flashbacks to Colten Rastetter with his 34-yard boot out of the Iowa football team’s endzone giving the Blue Raiders fantastic field position at the Hawkeye 41-yard line. Fortunately, the defense stayed strong and actually pushed MTSU back a few years and forced a punt three plays later, but against a team like Michigan, that will more than likely turn into points.

For a guy like Sleep-Dalton, who is one of the top punters in the Big Ten, I expect that punt to place the opponent on the other side of the 50-yard line.
