This offense may be one of the best under Kirk

Name better offenses than what we are seeing from the Iowa football team now under Kirk Ferentz. Maybe 2002 or 2009?

I will raise you though with 2019. I know this is a group of 5 team, but I don’t care. What the Iowa football team did today was ridiculously good and very encouraging for this team going forward.

They finished with 644 total yards which are the most under Kirk Ferentz (as told by ESPN and not confirmed by me at this point), and they did it through the air and on the ground. Nate Stanley averaged 11 yards through the air as he threw for 276 yards total and the ground game churned out 351 yards at a clip of 6.9 yards per carry.

Furthermore, seven guys caught a pass and ten guys received carries.

They have yet to face a stiff Big Ten defense, but the results through four games have been quite encouraging as it appears the Iowa football team’s offensive attack might actually be closer to its ceiling potential than its floor potential.

If they can keep it up, I don’t see why they shouldn’t be considered darkhorse contenders to make the College Football Playoffs.
