Through three games, Iowa football cornerback Michael Ojemudia is putting together a fantastic senior season as he plays at an All-American level.

The Iowa football team is known for producing great defensive backs, especially recently. Before it was Amani Hooker, it was Josh Jackson, and before that, it was Desmond King. In four years, the Iowa football team staked claim to three Big Ten Defensive Back of the Year awards and including King’s 2016 second-team All-American honors, claimed four straight All-American honors.

With Hooker gone, a big question this offseason was who would step up.

So far, it’s been senior corner Michael Ojemudia who leads the team with 2 interceptions this season, tied for 2nd most in the nation.

But it’s not just the big interceptions that make us think his play has been outstanding, it’s his coverage skills in general.

According to one of Pro Football Focus’ Senior College Football Analyst, Ojemudia has been absolutely lights out at the corner position this season.

He is one of three corners in the entire nation who has held quarterbacks to a perfect 0.0 passer rating.

The interceptions are nice, but not allowing the guy to ever catch the ball is honestly even more impressive.

Now, I’ll admit some of that is flawed and tough to navigate because the Iowa football team is a zone-dominant team and because with all of the injuries, Iowa State was attacking the opposite side of the field a lot, but the point still stands. The dude has been perfect.

Next. Week 4 rooting interests for Hawkeye fans. dark

With Matt Hankins, Kaevon Merriweather, and Julius Brents returning to the lineup, teams will be unable to specifically target guys because each guy will be talented in his own right meaning more opportunities for Ojemudia to pad those stats and get the eye-popping interception numbers that can help push him into national notoriety and possibly an All-American honor.
