With Saturday fast approaching, the Iowa football team is looking at a much better weather forecast vs Rutgers than they had against Miami.

Last week, there was a concern that the weather could impact the aerial attack of the Iowa football team, but fortunately, the rain held off, and Nate Stanley was able to put together a fantastic passing display completing 70% of his passes and hitting three different wide receivers for touchdowns.

After playing the first season opener night game in Iowa football history, the Hawks are back to their traditional late morning game as they begin their Big Ten Conference play against Rutgers.

And it looks like the weather won’t be an issue at all. In fact, it’s shaping up to be a beautiful Fall Saturday at Kinnick.

According to the Kinnick Stadium weather report, the low for Saturday is supposed to be 60 degrees while the high will top out in the high-70s. And most importantly, precipitation is just 20%, which means the Iowa football team’s offense should be able to operate however they choose.

As we saw Saturday evening against Miami of Ohio, the Iowa Hawkeye’s offensive attack displayed some new wrinkles that will keep the Rutgers defense honest, most notably the shotgun approach, read-option plays, and a two halfback (not fullback) backfield with Toren Young and Mekhi Sargent.

With the weather holding off, we also saw Stanley torch the Miami secondary.

Against Rutgers, I expect to see more of the same with the possibility of a few more wrinkles specifically designed to get the tight ends more involved in the passing attack and with Ihmir Smith-Marsette to get the dynamic playmaker the ball with space to operate.

For Rutgers, the fall weather might be a bit welcome as they have been experiencing a heatwave as of late so, if anything, it should have a positive impact on their play Saturday.
