Illinois at UConn

Point Spread (per ESPN app): Illinois -20

Rooting Interest: I guess Illinois. Someone needs to make the rest of the West look deeper and losing to UConn would be pretty terrible.

Point Spread Pick: Illinois. UConn is a different level of bad.

Central Michigan at #17 Wisconsin

Point Spread (per ESPN app): Wisconsin -35

Rooting Interest: Wisconsin. Having a least one decent team in the West outside of Iowa helps us in the long run.

Point Spread Pick: Wisconsin completely and unexpectedly dismantles a presumably decent South Florida team in Florida. This week, they play a 1-win MAC team in 2018. I think you know where this is going. Taylor is going to run for a mile in this game, and Wisconsin may be scoring touchdowns until Tuesday.

Buffalo at #15 Penn State

Point Spread (per ESPN app): Penn State -30

Rooting Interest: Penn State. If nothing else, Penn State winning until October 12 makes Iowa’s home game against them that much more fun and meaningful.

Point Spread Pick: Fun fact – Buffalo is picked by the MAC media to finish third in their division, right behind Iowa’s Week 1 opponent, Miami of Ohio. I’m going to go ahead and take a wild guess that Penn State can do to Buffalo what Iowa did to Miami of Ohio. Take Penn State in a rout.
