We have some key games outside of Iowa City for Iowa football fans. I’ll tell you who I’m rooting for and what my point spread picks are for week 2.

Week 1 did not go nearly as well as Week 0, both from a point spread pick perspective and a rooting interest point of view. The Iowa football team did get the win and mostly met expectations for the opening week, but the rest of the Big Ten West, sans Wisconsin, struggled.

Minnesota struggled with their opener against FCS opponent, South Dakota State, while Nebraska played a close gritty game against Alabama.

Sorry, that’s South Alabama, the three-win Sun Belt team, not the 14-win SEC team in 2018.

Like I predicted last week, Nevada not only beat the spread, but also beat Purdue outright, and Northwestern lost in California to Stanford.

If Week 1 is any indication of the rest of the season, the Big Ten West is a two-horse race between the Iowa football team and Wisconsin, and Wisconsin has the faster horse.

Luckily, Week 1 is very rarely a great indicator as to how teams will be playing late in the season.

With that being said, let’s look at week two and identify who Iowa football fans should be rooting for, and feel free to look back our preview Week 0 and Week 1 picks.
