Iowa football: O-line and DB gets shakeup in Rutgers depth chart
By Andrew Wade
Defensive backs are moving around
The secondary was probably my biggest concern after watching the Iowa football game Saturday night. Several times, Hawkeye defensive backs were out of position, and even when they were in a position, there were several interception drops.
So this depth chart release was going to be interesting, but the starting unit remains unchanged. Specifically, Kaevon Merriweather lives to see another day at the starting free safety spot despite an up and down performance.
The shakeup comes behind the starting defensive backs where there is still no Julius Brents sightings and true sophomore Riley Moss’ name is no longer on the depth chart. In his place is redshirt freshman Terry Roberts, a three-star recruit in the class of 2018.
Roberts has played just one game for the Hawkeyes (against Miami) and recorded two tackles. And for now, he’s the next in line for the Iowa defensive back unit.
