Iowa football is back, and it looked a little different than what I remember. Here are a few interesting observations from the game.

Just before the game started, I started thinking about my excitement for Iowa football to be back, and I honestly don’t think I have been more excited for a season before. Part of it is the amount of talent the Hawkeyes have, part of it is the continued evolution of Kirk Ferentz which generates a bit of excitement, and part of it is honestly just because I cover the Iowa football team for Dear Old Gold.

Regardless of the reason, I was pumped for last night, and outside of a ho-hum first-half performance and the Alaric Jackson injury, last night was great. The Hawks won, and there were a few things that surprised me in the process.

Here are my five observations from the win over Miami and what it means going forward for the 2019 Iowa football team.
