This offseason has created quite a bit of hatred between Iowa football fans and Nebraska fans. Let’s fuel the fire more by examining who has better corn.

Anyone jumping on this article expecting some in-depth football analysis or a real serious piece is going to be sorely disappointed. Now, this isn’t a fake article, just more of a fun article to continue the ruffling of Nebraska feathers, but the point still stands when the Iowa football team takes on Nebraska in the annual Heroes Game, Hawkeye fans need to wear those “We’ve got better corn” shirts loud and proud.

It’s just funny because, Nebraska chose to name themselves after people who husk corn, hence the cornhusker nickname, but they aren’t even the best in the nation. In fact, they’re not even number two.

According to this report, the state of Iowa is, far and away, the leading producer in bushels of corn with over 2.7 billion. Nebraska fell significantly short at 1.7 billion.

So not only is the Iowa football team winning the rivalry game owning a 5-3 record since Nebraska joined the Big Ten and owning a 4-game winning streak, they’re winning the off-field battle of corn too.

Now, before Nebraska fans rip me a new one, I do realize Nebraska owns a 29-17-3 record overall, and believe me, Nebraska fans sure do love to live in the past so want to be fair to them there.

The next time these two teams face-off will be Friday, November 29th at 230 PM CST when they take each other on for the 9th game of the Heroes Game rivalry, and it’s setting itself up to be possibly the best game of the decade between these two teams.

Both teams are often finding themselves ranked closely together in preseason top-25 polls, and they have two fantastic quarterbacks, which will make for an interesting quarterback duel. If both teams can just come into the game with 2 or fewer losses, this game will be one of the best late-season games on the schedule.
