Hard Knocks is coming to college football. Is it possible that the Iowa football team will appear on the show in the future?

There’s nothing more Iowa football fans love more than more Iowa football.

It may sound ridiculous, but I feel like Hawkeye Nation has been excited for the 2019 Iowa football season since the Hawk’s Outback Bowl victory over Mississippi State, and it’s not just because this team is ridiculously talented. That’s just how Iowa football fans are.

With the report that HBO is in negotiations to do a Hard Knocks type of show for four college football programs, it appears we may be getting our wish after all.

The Iowa football program is not one of the four programs (currently it’s Arizona State, Washington, Alabama, and Penn State), but given that the Hawks typically play Penn State in Big Ten Conference play, we are likely to get an appearance by the Hawkeyes in an episode or two.

But what I am more interested in is could the Iowa football team ever be featured on the program?

I’ll be honest in saying the chance is quite slim.

Kirk Ferentz doesn’t even allow kids to use Twitter. Do we really think he is going to want cameras following him, his staff, and his players around while they try to go about their business and compete at the highest level of college football?

You’re living in a dream if you think that will happen.

Some may point to it being a recruiting draw for schools, and that certainly is a good reason why schools should entertain the option, but the Iowa football program isn’t like most schools and they likely aren’t interested in the types of recruits who are more concerned with potential TV time than they are getting better in the weight room with Chris Doyle.

dark. Next. What we learned from media day

That being said, I would absolutely love a behind-the-scenes look at the Hawkeyes at they navigate the college football season, but I just cannot see it happening, not in the Kirk Ferentz-era at least.
