Seneca Wallace, Iowa State

I think what I dislike most about Seneca Wallace is that I don’t dislike him at all. He was a fun player to watch in college football and the NFL, but he cost the Iowa football team a chance at the National Championship game in 2003.

Wallace was electrifying in 2002 and for a brief moment was considered a frontrunner for the Heisman.

One of his big Heisman moments was taking down the Iowa football team for their only loss of the regular season.

His performance was pretty impressive all things considered. Wallace tossed the ball 37 times for 361 yards and 1 touchdown while adding another touchdown on the ground to defeat the Hawks 36 to 31.

When looking back on the 2002 season, this game stands out as the big “what-if” moment. What if the Hawks could have taken down Iowa State? Are they playing in the National Championship game? We’ll never know because Wallace had other plans.
