Alex Hornibrook, Wisconsin
Funny enough, most people actually love Alex Hornibrook outside of Wisconsin. He wasn’t a bad quarterback, just incredibly average, and more often than not he was the reason opposing teams had a chance against the Badgers. Against the Iowa football team though, it seemed like he always did just enough to win.
In three games against the Hawkeyes, Hornibrook posted a 3-0 win-loss record while throwing 5 touchdowns and 3 interceptions (all 3 of those came in the 2017 contest).
Last year’s game is what stung the most though. Holding on to a 17-14 lead with under six minutes remaining in Kinnick, it looked like the Iowa football team was going to beat the Badgers to move to 4-0 on the season and enter the College Football Playoff discussion.
Hornibrook proceeded to lead a 10-play, 88-yard drive that culminated in a 17-yard touchdown pass by Hornibrook to put the Badgers in the driver’s seat.
The now-former Badger is not liked more for the fact that he shouldn’t have been able to do that against Iowa in Kinnick, yet somehow decided to have one of the best drives of his career at the most inopportune times for the Iowa football team.
