The Las Vegas Summer League is over, and the three Iowa basketball players playing didn’t finish as strong as we would have liked to see.

It’s been a rollercoaster for former Iowa basketball players Jarrod Uthoff, Peter Jok, and Tyler Cook in the 2019 Las Vegas Summer League.

Uthoff had undoubtedly the best performance of the three, and I would even say his performance was one of the top-25 in the entire league, but his Pistons team that went undefeated in the regular season of the summer league was bounced early by the Brooklyn Nets.

His final stat line for the league in five games played was 11.6 points per game on 52% shooting, 3.8 rebounds, 2 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1 block per game. As you can see, Uthoff did a great job of showcasing his versatility throughout the summer league and now we play the waiting game to see if it earns him a camp invite.

Jok and Cook, on the other hand, didn’t have as strong of performances in the Las Vegas Summer League, but I could easily point to the inconsistent minutes as a big part of the problem.

Jok played in just three games for the Orlando Magic and averaged 3 points while shooting an atrocious 21% from the field. In the Magic’s playoff game, Jok got the start but went 0 for 6 from the field and saw just 17 minutes of playing time.

It wasn’t exactly the performance he was looking for after a fantastic showing in the NBA G-League this past year, but fortunately, he will have another shot to show scouts what he’s got when he plays with the Iowa United in The Basketball Tournament.

Cook had brief flashes of brilliance and potential but struggled with fouls and a lack of playing time through his first Las Vegas Summer League experience.

The former Iowa basketball player didn’t even get into the Nuggets last game of the season either.

Out of the three guys though, Cook has a contract currently so he will be heading to the Nuggets camp when he is likely a bit healthier giving him another guaranteed shot at showing his abilities.
