We are less than two months away from the Iowa football season beginning. Here are the five storylines we will be watching when the 2019 season kicks off.

Six weekends are all that remain between us and the start of the Iowa football season, and I am pumped.

It’s been a long offseason with a lot of speculation and excitement building for the 2019 season.

Many media outlets have the Iowa football listed as a top-25 team heading into 2019 and three Hawkeye football players have been projected to be first round picks in early 2020 NFL mock drafts.

Furthermore, the 2020 recruiting class has lit a spark in all Iowa football fans as Kirk Ferentz has managed to put together an impressive list of players before the midway point of summer. For football-starved fans, this is just another layer to the anticipation of 2019.

But despite this excitement, doubts remain. Will Nate Stanley take the next step and how does the Iowa football team handle their 2019 gauntlet of an away schedule? Will they surpass Las Vegas’ win projection of 8?

All of these questions are part of larger storylines that we will be monitoring and tracking over the course of 2019.

With that, here are the five biggest storylines heading into 2019.
