#4 – Iowa versus Nebraska (The Heroes Game Trophy)

If I had a dollar for every time a Nebraska fan trolled something I posted, I would be rich. Moreover, if I am willing to bet I get more than a few comments from Nebraska fans about this specific slide because those folks aren’t going to read the entire thing. They’ll see the bad and be instantly pissed, but here it goes.

This trophy game is the least-tenured of the Iowa football team’s four trophy games, and it is also the worst one of the four, by far.

I do think long-term this will be a great rivalry. The two states are very similar, the programs are tradition-rich and the fan bases are loyal and passionate, but since Nebraska joined the Big Ten, the most exciting thing about this game is counting the number of times Huskers fans bring up how great the ’90s were when you try to logically explain to them that their team has not been good as of late.

Now, with a glimmer of hope, they act like they could be a College Football Playoff contender this year. Adrian Martinez is a very good quarterback and Scott Frost has shown he can win, but let’s slow the roll.

That being said, the games, like I said above, should get better going forward. Last year, was even a fun game to watch for both sides. Yet, since this has become a rivalry game, the Iowa football team has won 5 of 8 with 3 of those games being 20+ point victories.

But to be fair, the other three rivalries just have significantly more history to them then this one, which is why it’s fourth.
