The Iowa football season in less than two months away. Here’s our breakout candidate, rising star, dark horse MVP and more superlatives for 2019.

There are eight full months between the end of the Iowa football season and the beginning of the new season, and in between that time, there are quite a few storylines that pop up.

Players declare early for the draft or decide they want to transfer from the Iowa football team, some recruits join the team in January and spring practice begins, and the NFL draft takes place and former Iowa football players find their future homes.

The point is, a lot of things change between each season. For example, when we put out our 2019 pre-spring practice depth chart, I thought it was pretty good. Now, after hearing reports of how certain players did and what the coaches intend to do with certain players has me leaning in a few different directions than previously thought.

Some of the big storylines to follow include many of the big name guys like AJ Epenesa, Tristan Wirfs, Alaric Jackson, and Nate Stanley, but they are the only guys playing the game.

There are 18 other starters and another 30 or so that will get playing time. What’re their storylines?

And that’s the beauty of superlatives, especially these that we are going to break out for you in this slideshow. These superlatives aren’t your basic, who’s going to be MVP and what not. These dig a little deeper, and they highlight other players that we don’t talk about as often.

With a quick shoutout to Joe Marino of The Draft Network for the inspiration behind this, let’s take a look at the 2019 superlatives for the Iowa football team.
