The Iowa football team has been on a roll in recruiting as of late, and they could be getting some good news from a WR target in the next 10 days.

In the past week, the Iowa football team has received commitments from three key players in the class of 2020 to bring their total up to 14 commits.

Ten days from now, they could be getting another commit from a top WR target from Indianapolis, David Baker.

Baker is a 6’2” 196-pound three-star wide receiver from Scecina Memorial high school, and the Iowa football team is high on his list, but it looks like the Hawks have strong competition from another Big Ten school, Indiana.

Fortunately, the Iowa football team will have the last opportunity to convince Baker when he travels to Iowa City this weekend for an official visit.

With one wide receiver already committed, the Iowa football team would be lucky to nab another, especially one of Baker’s stature.

On the tape, he is fast, explosive, and he can take the top off of defenses if needed. Moreover, his contested catch ability is fantastic, consistently winning the battle with defenders in 50/50 situations. Where already committed wide receiver Quavon Matthews has a bit more Ihmir Smith-Marsette to his game, Baker looks a little bit like current jump ball specialist Brandon Smith.

They’re both 6’2”, and while Baker is currently 20 pounds lighter, that will change when he joins Chris Doyle.

If the announcement is made and the Iowa football team is not the decision though, there is plenty of time for the Hawks to lock down their second wide receiver target in the class. Personally, I am a big fan of 4-star recruit Daniel Jackson’s game although the chances of landing him seem to be slim at this point.

A few other names to watch out for from a wide receiver perspective is Kaevion Mack, AJ Lawson, and Diante Vines. Mack would be interesting as he would be one of the taller receivers on the Hawks at 6’3” while Vines can jump through the roof (39.2 inch vertical) despite standing sub-6′.

Next. Possible replacements for Kirk Ferentz. dark

Baker’s official announcement will come on Saturday, June 29th at 5 pm.
