Happy Father’s Day to all Dad’s in Hawkeye nation! These four Dad do not just have children but also have to coach their children for the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Today is a fantastic day to celebrate all the wonderful fathers or father figures in your life, and there are many Dads coaching Iowa Hawkeyes programs who deserve a Happy Father’s Day.

There are four dads in particular though that aren’t just fathers to their children, they are also coaching their children at the highest level of collegiate athletics.

Here are the four fathers who are coaching (I am going to use that term loosely for one of these) their kids for the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Kirk Ferentz/Brian Ferentz

Alright, so like I said, I am using the term coaching a little loose for some of these, and that’s primarily so I can include the father/son duo of Kirk Ferentz and Brian Ferentz on this list. Kirk has had the honor of coaching each of his sons within the Iowa Hawkeyes football programs and now he has the honor of having his oldest son Brian on the coaching staff as the Offensive Coordinator.

Chris Doyle/Dillon Doyle

This one has sort of flown under the radar, but Dillon Doyle joined the Iowa Hawkeyes football program as a 3-star linebacker from Iowa City West in the recruiting class of 2018. His dad, Chris, is famously known as one of (if not the) best strength and conditioning coaches in the country.

Oh boy, I can only imagine how hard Dillon gets pushed in the weight room.

Terry Brands/Nelson Brands

Terry Brands, the Associate Head Coach of the Iowa Hawkeyes wrestling program, is a father and a coach to his son Nelson Brands, a redshirt freshman on the wrestling team.

For Nelson, it’s got to be interesting. In addition to his dad, his uncle, Tom, is the Head Coach.

After winning three state titles in the state of Iowa, Nelson redshirted this past season with the Iowa Hawkeyes but showed his skill on the mat posting an 18-0 record in unattached wrestling events.

Fran McCaffery/Connor McCaffery/Patrick McCaffery

This is arguably the most notable father/son duo (soon to be a trio) in Iowa Hawkeye athletics today. Fran is the head coach of the Iowa basketball team, and he has been coaching his son Connor for the past two seasons, and he is going to be joined this upcoming season by Patrick.

There certainly isn’t any favoritism going on with the basketball team though. Connor spent his redshirt freshman season coming off the bench, and until a few weeks ago, it was thought that four-star and top-100 recruit Patrick would be redshirting instead of playing in his first season.

It’s not super common to see one father coaching his own son in Division 1 athletics, let alone four, so this is pretty cool.

Again, a special Happy Father’s Day to these Hawkeye Dads and a special Happy Father’s Day to all Dad’s in Hawkeye nation out there!
