Former Iowa football player Casey Kreiter made a Pro Bowl in his third season. With a new contract, he’s shooting for back to back births with Denver.

The life of a long snapper isn’t exactly the most glorious, but that’s okay by Casey Kreiter. Often, the best long snappers are the ones you never hear about because the most notoriety a long snapper gets is when they mess up. Fortunately, messing up is not something the former Iowa football player does often.

Last season, despite switching punters partway through and with Brandon McManus still not quite back to form, Casey Kreiter, excelled in his task of making sure the ball got from point A to point B as quickly as possible and in the perfect placement.

That’s what he does though. Kreiter continues to find a way to make it work.

The DeWitt, Iowa native joined the Iowa football program as a linebacker, but after just one season he moved up closer to the line of scrimmage to play defensive line.

In season three is when Kreiter made the full-time switch that would define his football career. Kreiter moved to the most inglorious positions in football, the long snapper.

With the Hawks, Casey did well enough to garner some attention after the conclusion of the 2014 NFL Draft, but he couldn’t do enough to stick around with the Dallas Cowboys. Two years later, he got his shot with the Denver Broncos and the pairing has been great for both teams.

Kreiter’s performance was so impressive, it earned him a Pro Bowl birth after he was selected by Los Angeles Chargers Head Coach Anthony Lynn. A few months later, he signed a 1 year/$1 million deal that will keep him Denver for the 2019 season and make him the 18th highest paid long snapper in the NFL.

Long snapping may not be the prettiest position, but it certainly is paying the bills for this former Iowa football player as he continues his journey in the NFL, and maybe, it will earn him another free trip to the Pro Bowl.
