The 2005 Capital One Bowl was one of the most thrilling victories in Iowa football history. Here’s where key members of that team are today.

The ending of the 2005 Capital One Bowl was one for the ages. With seconds remaining, the Iowa football team had the ball on their own 44-yard line down 25 to 24 and no timeouts. Sophomore quarterback Drew Tate dropped back and fired a pass to a streaking Warren Holloway who ran into the endzone for the game-winning touchdown.

Dubbed “the catch” by Iowa football faithful it was one of those moments that you know exactly where you were when it happened–I was at my buddy Tanner’s house, and we just started running around the house yelling. It’s a moment that will live on forever, but what shouldn’t be overshadowed is just how great of a team the Iowa football team was that season.

Outside of two early season losses (including one to Michigan which kept Iowa out of the Rose Bowl), on the road no less, the Iowa football team conquered every single opponent they faced to go 10-2 and finish with an 11th overall final ranking.

The 2005 Capital One Bowl Champion Iowa football program isn’t as revered as the 2009 Orange Bowl Champion squad, but this team was one of the best teams Kirk Ferentz has had in his tenure in Iowa City.

Here’s where a few of those key members are today.
