With Bohannon gone, could former Iowa basketball player Isaiah Moss consider a return to the program for his senior season of college basketball?

First off, this is not a report or based on any rumor, it’s merely asking the question, would it be possible for former Iowa basketball player Isaiah moss to return and should he if he could?

To answer the first question, he absolutely can return. It sounds like Moss still needs to complete classes this summer to graduate and officially transfer to Arkansas leaving the door open for his return if he chose to.

Should he return is a question that truly depends on what he is looking for. In an interview with Chad Leistikow, Fran McCaffery stated he felt Moss was looking to go to a spot where he could be the #1 or #2 guy.

"I’m just assuming, he wants to be first or second on the team in shots. First or second on the team in minutes. I’m sure that’s what he’s looking for, and I hope that’s what he finds."

If that was the case, then leaving the Iowa basketball team did make a lot of sense at the time. He would be splitting the ball with Jordan Bohannon, Joe Wieskamp, and Luka Garza with the possibility of redshirt freshman CJ Fredrick cutting more into his minutes than former Iowa basketball player and current Akron Zip Maishe Dailey did.

Now though with Jordan Bohannon potentially out next season after hip surgery, the Iowa basketball team is left with just one experienced backcourt player from last season and that’s two-sport player Connor McCaffery.

In his first full season with the Iowa basketball team, McCaffery didn’t show much of shooting touch. He averaged just 4.4 points per game in 18.6 minutes of play while shooting 36% from the field and a hideous 21% from behind the arc.

If Isaiah Moss wanted to be the guy, now would certainly be his opportunity. Unfortunately, with the uncertainty of Jordan Bohannon’s injury recovery and the fact that Fran McCaffery has likely already gone through these scenarios with Moss, his time is over.

dark. Next. Thankfully, Joe Wieskamp returns

It is wishful thinking though.
