The Iowa basketball team got another jolt of good news when four-star forward Jamari Sibley announced the Hawks were in his top-10 teams.

As we said in a post yesterday, the last month has been rough on the Iowa basketball team with the number of departures and injuries hitting the team hard, but yesterday the Hawks officially got word that star freshman Joe Wieskamp would be returning.

On the heels of that announcement, Fran McCaffery got some more good news today.

Four-star forward and top-100 recruit Jamari Sibley announced his top-10 today and the Iowa basketball was fortunately on the list.

Sibley, a forward from Milwaukee, Wisconsin holds 13 offers currently with a majority of the Big Ten expressing interest. Now it appears the Hawks will be competing against in-state rival Iowa State and Big Ten schools Maryland and Minnesota.

Currently, the Iowa basketball team has zero commitments in the class of 2020 out of 35 reported offers so securing a player of Sibley’s caliber could help convince others like in-state five-star forward Xavier Foster and five-star combo guard Jalen Suggs to join the team.

Either way, at 6’8” and 200 pounds, Sibley would be a perfect fit in the Fran McCaffery offense. He has the athleticism to run the floor while showing solid post moves. Moreover, he has shown the ability to shoot the three with success, something the Hawks could never get out of former four-star forward Tyler Cook.

If Bohannon does end up sitting out at the 2019-2020 season and the Iowa basketball team is able to return Joe Wieskamp, the Hawkeyes could be a serious contender for a national championship during the 2020-2021 season as their offense would be filled with length, athleticism, and shooting abilities.

Until it actually happens, I’ll just sit here dreaming about glory days for the Iowa basketball team, but it sure is a salivating possibility.
