Jake Gervase – Los Angeles Rams

Gervase,  much like Easley, is no stranger to adversity. He worked his way up from walk-on to team captain and starting free safety for the Iowa football program. Now, after two tryouts, he is attempting his most difficult challenge yet: securing a roster spot on the defending NFC Champion Los Angeles Rams.

It will not be easy. The Rams have two starters entrenched in their role, and they have invested three picks in the past two NFL Drafts in the safety position.

Currently listed on the 5th string, Gervase will need to have an outstanding preseason to secure a roster spot with the Rams, and he will need to channel his early Iowa football career success on special teams to show he belongs.

While possible, this roster is too talented to keep an extra safety on board.

Prediction: Gervase is cut during the preseason, and possible latches out on the practice squad in Los Angeles or elsewhere.

Again, I want to remind everyone, this is not what I want to happen, but what I think will happen based on the current NFL team’s roster depth and each of these player’s skills set. If come September every single one of these guys is on the active roster, you better believe I will be hooting and hollering as an Iowa football fan.

And if we’re being honest, that outcome wouldn’t surprise me either. These guys know what hard work is and ready to do everything they can to stick.
