#5 – CJ Beathard

I chose CJ Beathard at #5 because while he had a great career at Iowa, he wasn’t able to win any bowl games or major college football awards.  Therefore, he drops a bit in the rankings.

When you look at CJ’s stats for the Hawks, he posted some great numbers.  Beathard’s most memorable season was in 2015 when the Iowa football team finished the regular season 12-0 and advanced to the Big Ten Title game.  Unfortunately, the Hawks lost to Michigan State by a score of 16-13.  They went on to play in the Rose Bowl game against Stanford, but we shouldn’t discuss that any further.

Beathard’s senior year was one to forget though. He didn’t even top 2,000 yards as he battled through injuries and the wide receiver group was generally ineffective.
