Kirk Ferentz’s time with the Iowa football program has been a special one. It’s so special that he is likely to have a status outside Kinnick Stadium. In his 20 years at the helm of the Iowa football program, he’s seen it all. There have been easy wins, there have been disappointing losses, and there have been some pretty special victories during his time with the Hawks monitoring the sidelines.
Kirk Ferentz’s time at Iowa has truly been a special one.
He has kept the Iowa Football program at stable success, averaging 7-8 wins per season with a couple 10 wins seasons in the mix.
One of those ten win seasons concluded with an Orange Bowl victory. Let’s not forget the 2016 season when the Iowa football team went 12-0 and made it to the Big Ten championship where they lost a heart breaker to the Michigan State Spartans. Despite the loss, the Iowa football team did get a chance to play in the grandaddy of them all, the Rose Bowl. Neither of those games ended the way the Hawks wanted them to, but to go 12-0 and go to the Rose Bowl is something Iowa football fans will appreciate.
