DJ Harvey

DJ Harvey would be a huge coup for the Iowa basketball team, and they are well within contention of landing the former four-star wing from Notre Dame.

Harvey was the 49th best recruit in the class of 2017 and is coming off a fine season in South Bend where he started 29 games and averaged 10.7 points and 4.2 rebounds.

According to Jeff Goodman, the Maryland native is deciding right now between the Hawkeyes and Vanderbilt.

Because he is just a sophomore, he would have to sit out a year, but that would align perfectly with Joe Wieskamp’s potential departure. Even if Wieskamp stays, Harvey can move to the 2 spot and play shooting guard adding even more explosiveness offensively to an already strong team.

His three-point shooting was down this season, but expect that to rise in an offense predicated on creating open looks behind the arc. The biggest concern about Harvey coming out of high school was his defense, but it does appear that he is making small strides. In his freshman season his Defensive Plus-Minus was 1.0 and last year it was an even 0.
