Former Iowa football player Damon Bullock unexpectedly passed away this weekend at the age of 25. Here’s a quick walk down memory lane.

Sadly, Damon Bullock, a former running back for the Iowa football team, passed away this weekend at the age of 25.

Despite never being a full-time starter, Bullock was a fan favorite among Iowa football fans not only for on-field abilities, but his hilarious Vines.

On the field, Bullock spent most of his time backing up former transfer running back Mark Weisman  during what could be considered the dark ages of the Kirk Ferentz era (7-6, 4-8, 8-5, and 7-6 seasons).

A two-star recruit out of Mansfield, Texas, Bullock carved out a nice role as a pass-catching number two running back. Twice, he eclipsed 400 yards rushing in a season and caught 18 or more passes three times in his career. During his sophomore and junior seasons, Bullock finished second on the team in rushing before taking a step back as speedy Jordan Canzeri emerged from the Iowa football team’s loaded backfield.

He would finish his Iowa football career with 1,074 rushing yards, 71 receptions, 616 receiving yards and 5 total touchdowns.

The 1,074 rushing yards ranks 35th all-time and his 71 receptions ranks 32nd all-time. Moreover, his 1,690 total all-purpose yards ranks 38th all-time.

After graduating from the University of Iowa, Bullock went undrafted and his football career came to a close.

He went on to work for American Airlines after football before landing an Inside Sales Representative job at Publishing Concepts, a job he held until his passing.

The announcement of Bullock’s death came this afternoon, and Twitter has been showing Bullock much love and respect.

Death is never easy to take, especially when the person is just a 25-year old kid a few years removed from college.

Thank you Damon for all of the amazing memories playing for the Iowa football team, and thank you for always bringing joy to all whether that be in your interviews or through your social media accounts. You will be missed.

Rest in peace Damon.
