Zeke Martin, Center, Illinois

Zeke Martin was a center at Illinois, but surprisingly never saw much playing time outside of special teams.

Heading into his final redshirt senior, the Ohio native felt he needed a change and decided to transfer. He will be eligible immediately.

Here’s his post on Twitter:

While you may be questioning why would we want a center from Illinois who didn’t even get to start at Illinois. I mean, Illinois was bad, why do we want their second-string players. Well, it’s simple, the Iowa football team needs depth.

In our most recent depth chart predictions, I have Tyler Linderbaum slotted in as the center after moving over there just a few weeks ago from the defensive side of the ball. Behind him would be supersub Levi Paulsen.

A guy like Martin could step right in and at least provide the experience at the center position that could make the Iowa football coaching staff feel comfortable if anything were to happen to Linderbaum.
