Walk-ons

Although maybe not as important other programs, walk on players have played vital roles in the success of the Iowa football program throughout Kirk Ferentz’ tenure. In fact, two graduating senior starters (Nick Easley and Jake Gervase) both joined the team as walk-ons, and both went on to have fantastic careers with the Hawks.

This past week, the Iowa football team has received word on one committed walk-on, and they are actively pursuing another.

Jackson Frericks – Frericks, a 6’7” tight end out of Cedar Falls accepted Iowa’s preferred walk on offer earlier this week. Dylan Burns from 247Sports had a great write-up on this for more information.

Keontae LuckettLuckett, a 5’9”, 180 pound running back from New London, IA has reportedly accepted a preferred walk-on opportunity with the Hawks.

Javon FoyFoy, a Moline, IA native is a 6’0” wide receiver who accepted a walk-on opportunity with the Hawks on January 28 according to Blaire Sanderson.

Jackson Ritter – Ritter, an Illinois Wr/Te prospect has already received a preferred walk-on offer to the Hawks, and based on his twitter activity (retweeting each of the guy’s above commitment tweets), we could be seeing him officially commit here shortly.
