I’m not going to lie to you and say I thought this Iowa football team was going to make the College Football Playoff this season, but I did think this team was talented enough to make a run at a Big Ten West title and possibly a better bowl game than the Pinstripe Bowl. Here we are, however, seven games into the season and the talk is getting louder about the potential for the Iowa football team to sneak their way into the playoffs. It won’t be easy, and the odds are certainly now in Iowa’s favor, but there is a chance, and I’ll take an opportunity any day.
For those that haven’t watched the Iowa football team play this year, you may think this is a pretty standard Kirk Ferentz team that relies on high football IQ players making the right plays, a power run game, and a strong defense. This season, however, that isn’t the case, most notably on the offensive side of the ball. The Iowa football team has a dynamic offense that can win vertically, and they have a three-headed rushing attack that perfectly compliments each other.
This team is loaded with talent, and they have the kind of talent that will allow them to hang in and beat a team like Michigan and Ohio State down the line.
