Both the Iowa football program and the Wisconsin football program secured needed victories Saturday. Where does the rest of the division stand after week 8?

The Iowa football team avoided the potential trap game against Maryland, walking away with a  23-0 victory in less than ideal conditions Saturday. The defense was outstanding and held the strong Terrapin rushing offense to their worst rushing day of the season, hence the reason we handed out three game balls to the defense and special teams yesterday.

The rest of the Big Ten West powers had a great Saturday as well, each walking away victorious while the winless Nebraska Cornhuskers finally captured their first victory. In fact, it was arguably the best day in the Big Ten West this season with five teams winning on the day.

Oddly enough, the Northwestern Wildcats are currently in first place in the Big Ten West race with a 4-1 conference record. Meanwhile, the Iowa football team, the Wisconsin Badgers, and the Purdue Boilermakers all sit in second with a  3-1 record. However, this is likely to change as the Wildcats face the Wisconsin Badgers next weekend, Purdue travels to Lansing to face Michigan State, and the #18 Iowa football team faces off against #17 Penn State.

So where do these teams sit in our power rankings. Take a look and see.
