Miguel Recinos

It’s not often that we hand out game balls to kickers, but it also isn’t often that kickers need to deal with 45 mile per hour winds while putting a tiny pigskin through the uprights. That was the task for senior kicker Miguel Recinos this week, and he performed admirably.

Recinos struggled initially to begin the season and heading into this Saturday’s matchup, he was 7-10 on field goals for the season hitting them at a 70% clip. For comparison, Recinos hit 84.6% of his field goals in 2017.

Facing a tall task Saturday, Recinos managed to improve his season statistics after hitting all three of his field goal attempts in less than ideal conditions. With how the Iowa football defense was playing Saturday, just one of those field goals would have done the trick to walk away with a win.

He also hit on each of his extra point attempts to walk away with 11 points for the day.

For the season, Miguel Recinos is now 10-13 on field goals with a 76.9% success rate.
