TJ Hockenson

While all the hype has been focused on Noah Fant heading into the 2018 season, it’s been TJ Hockenson that has quietly become Nate Stanley’s favorite target. We wrote last week about how Hockenson is becoming a stud tight end. I thing becoming is the wrong word to use now because he is a stud tight end.

Saturday was just another day in the office for the Iowa football player as he casually put up his second 100-yard performance of the season. He finished the day with four catches, 107 yards, and two touchdown catches.

He is now leading the team or tied for the lead in catches and receiving yards this season.

Against Indiana, it was Hockenson’s two touchdown catches that were truly superb. The first touchdown was a diving catch in the end zone, but the second touchdown catch required a little more running for Hockenson. He took a 10-yard drag route 54 yards down the field out running the Indiana secondary. Pretty impressive for a 6’5”, 250 pound tight end.

People outside of the Iowa football world were even taking notice. San Francisco 49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk even made an indirect comparison to former Hawkeye/current 49er George Kittle.
